Q4 Benchmark Project - Sierra Harvey
I did a recreation of a painting by jean michel basquiat I decide to do his painting because i like like his style of art also it seem like a piece of work that would like to do in the future. I started by getting a base for my painting I wanted to do it on something that was kinda hard do it could resemble walls since he dose graffiti art. After that I painted the background red since that’s how it is in his picture Next I outlined his drawing on the card stock so I could paint it. After that I outline the lines so that it could stand out more. Lastly I painted over the whole thing in yellow so it would look like the painting. From doing this paint I learned that doing painting that don’t represent something is okay it doesn't always have to have a meaning.
While I was working on this painting some obstacles I ran into was that I had to use specific colors so that the painting would be look like the original which was hard because I had to mix color together to get the perfect color.
I am most of proud of how much my painting looks the original also the colors are the same.
Landscape Mixed Media
For my project this quarter I choses to do mixed media, which made me use different media in a way that I never have before to form one individual piece. The criteria for making this piece of work was that I had to use at least 3 different medias.
When starting to form my ideas as to what I was going to make, I started out by thinking about the different medias that I wanted to use. I thought about a lot of different things but in the end I decided that I wanted to use newspaper, string, paint, construction paper, and glue. Once I had the materials down I thought about what I wanted to make. I thought that the materials would make a good landscape picture . After that I got started using the materials and seeing how they worked together. I wanted the background of the picture to have the newspaper and than I would paint over that to make the grass and sky and things. And lastly use the string and paper to add to the picture making clouds and more grass.
Finally once my art work was finished I was most proud of how my materials work together, especially the newspaper background and the paint. I think that the newspaper background made my artwork special because it made the texture that I wanted. If I had to change one thing about my artwork it would be that I would move the sun to the middle on the horizon line. Other than that I think that my artwork turn out very well and I learned that I just have to trust the process in which I work and it will all work out.

Sierra's Portrait Project
My drawing is of a girl , that I like to think is of me. I have placed a crown on top of the head to represent that she should be treated like royalty and that she has importance to other people. Also the girl doesn't have eyes because it shows that she tries not to judge people based on what they look like but what the character of the person is . The girl in the picture is black because I am a black girl and I wanted to show that black girls should be treated like a queen and have respect from everyone and for themselves. While I was making my drawing I first started off with the idea that I wanted to make a portrait of myself. Then I started to think about what I wanted to have in the picture represent when it is finally completed, that is how I came up with the ideas of the things that are in my drawing. I think that this drawing is very good for me because it showed myself that I can make a drawing that has meaning. For my drawing I used color pencils because I felt as though it would really making my drawing better and embellish it better than other materials. At first I started by testing the color pencils that I wanted to use, so that I knew which color I wanted to make everything. I am proud of the finally outcome of my drawing. I think it showed my growth in my art journey.
One Point Perspective
All for one, One for all
My back story is when me and my friends need help with something we all help each other and try to help them and find a solution to the problem. We never like to see each other in a hard time so we try as much as we can to get them through it. That's why my 6 words are All for one, One for all cause we all help each other to become one. In my drawing I put pictures of people on the wall to represent my friends. I also choose to put a lot seats cause their is where me and my friends seat to talk about our problems.

Street Art
The title of our artwork is “Different Stages”. It means that everyone is different and everyone is developing in different ways and at their own pace.
What inspired your work?
Friendship inspired our art work, for a long time we have been trying to see how we can all be the same until we realized that we are all at different stages and we came to a conclusion that we are all at different stages and we will soon grow into our full potential. So we all agreed to draw the a flower growing through its different stages until it was full grown
Why did you choose the location you chose?
We chose our location because it was an area that was empty with a blue background and it made the image pop more.
How did this project change your perception of Art?
This project made us realized that we can use our lives as inspiration for our artwork Also,.In the beginning, we didn’t think art really had a deep meaning. But now since we experience the critical thought process we understand that art has a bigger purpose than to just be seen.
How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city?
The project changed our perception of the way we viewed art as we traveled because it wasn’t just patterns and bold colors it was more of a statement trying to be perceived.

Our work is displayed on the right side of the third floor on the blue wall across from the windows. We chose this location because it was an area that was empty, which meant the viewer's attention will be focused on our work. The blue background made the image pop more also.
Before this project, we didn't think very deeply about art. In the beginning, we didn’t think art really had a deep meaning. But now since we experience the critical thought process we understand that art has a bigger purpose than to just be seen. We also learned that we can use our lives as inspiration for our artwork. The way we viewed street art change as well, we no longer just see patterns and bold colors it is now more of a statement trying to be perceived that was carefully thought out and planned.
