Food insecurity

Posted by Sekou Cisse in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · C on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 11:32 pm

The reason why we chose food insecurity is because we noticed that it is a very big issue. We felt as though it didn’t get enough attention and we made it our goal to shed light on it. In the video, we gave a definition of what food insecurity is, how It affects people, and also what regions of Philly It affects. We also tried to give it a light-hearted spin so that way it didn’t seem too dull and boring.

What we did well was give good definitions and make it entertaining. What I feel like we could’ve done differently was go a little more in-depth with what we were talking about but other than that I would say it came out pretty good.

I would say doing the research behind it only because you really have to know what you’re talking about. It was also really fun but we had to do a lot of organizing because some days certain people weren’t there and it made it more difficult

Benchmark Reflection Assignment

The value of biodiversity is that it helps maintain our ecosystem and keeps Earth’s natural natural processes. Some things humans do disrupt the Earth’s natural systems are smoking, driving, deforestation because they throw the Earth’s natural systems out of wack. Humans as a whole can be more sustainable by using more natural resources and also limiting certain things they do such as overfishing and illegal poaching.

This project has helped deepen my understanding of sustainability because it made me think deeper about the resources that were being used in each everyday product. Nothing really surprised me because I know a good bit about the cleaning industry but something I didn’t know about was something called allergens which turned out to be stuff we eat on a daily basis such as eggs, wheat, peanuts etc. I did contribute a lot to our project because I feel like I found really good resources and also came up with some good ideas with how we should represent it as well.

  1. They affect each other by causing changes in the weather and our ecosystem. For example, when wildfires happen it has to do with things happening in our ecosystem. Another example is when there is an earthquake, that affects the geosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and lithosphere. These are just a few examples of how they affect each other but there are still plenty more examples.
  2. It can help people from getting injured or dying from these types of unpredictable situations. They can also learn how to control those types of situations so that they never get out of hand. This could help us develop and look out for certain signs and signals of what’s to come. This is what I feel is possible if humans learn and delve a little deeper into what we already know about the world as it is.
