Quarter 3: Human Anatomy Benchmark The Nervous System Project (2017-2018)

The purpose of this benchmark is for students to demonstrate their understanding of the Nervous System. In groups of 4, you must pick a topic pertaining to the nervous system. Your project is two part: a physical model of the nervous system showing how the topic you chose affects the system and an informative presentation that can be in the form of: poster, website, video, powerpoint, prezi. Your project must describe the types of cells, tissues, and organs that make up the organ system. Your group must focus on how the organ system helps the human body maintain homeostasis by analyzing the chemical and biological changes that occur. Investigate how the topic affects the body’s ability to maintain homeostasis. What must be done in order to get the body back to homeostasis, if someone is a victim of the disease (i.e. medical treatments and therapy available). You must also research professions and organizations that study or manage the topic you are investigating, in order to create a social awareness of the topic.

Overall, this project was very fun. I learned a lot about human anatomy and how Alzheimer's disease effects the physiology of the human mind. If I were to redo this project, I would procrastinate less.
