natural disasters and earth systems

Posted by Seth Dunham-Snipes in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A on Monday, October 4, 2021 at 10:06 am

How do the earth systems affect each other?: The earth system affects each other because when something happens to one system, it may have a last effect on multiple systems or even just one. Like for example, if there is bad air quality in the atmosphere, life in the biosphere might find it had to breathe, the solar radiation is reduced which cause water to evaporate at a slower rate, and for the geosphere, it can really harm the quality soil resources. So basically when something happens to one earth system, it has the last effect on multiple. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? The understanding of environmental science can help to handle naturals disasters because if studying the conditions of what happens before a natural disaster is about to strike can help you prepare in advance. For example, when a thunderstorm hits, you can prepare for a tornado if a thunderstorm comes, sometimes a tornado follows depending on the conditions. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Some efforts we can make for a sustainable future are maybe learning more about Earth and how it works. While yes, people do know things and facts about the Earth, they don't know the effects of their actions and how they are harming the Earth. With more people being educated on environmental science and natural disasters and how to help the Earth, the quicker and better Earth can get better as a whole.

1). How do the earth systems affect each other? - The earth systems affect each other because they are all in a cycle, If the geosphere and hydrosphere didn't work together then many things wouldn't be living especially us, and including that into our project if mudslides weren't created in the form of science then the earth wouldn't open up to be new in a way. 2). How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? It could help prepare and have safety guidelines if something terrible like a natural disaster ever occurred 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? - We could take more care of the Earth by recycling., less hunting, and air pollution REFLECTION: This was a great project, I understand everything and it was fun to be with a group and help everyone out. The collaboration task was amazing, everything went smooth and it was quick and helpful as well.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? - The Earth systems are not only interrelated, but they also overlap; what affects one can influence another. Precipitation, such as rain or snow, can fall to Earth's surface when a parcel of air in the atmosphere gets saturated with water. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? - It can inform us on what to do when a natural disaster occurs so that we can handle it accordingly. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? - We can go paperless like we have started to , reuse things , grow our own things and preserve energy.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? The Earth system affect each other because they are all connected, if something happens to one system it ends up making another system do something different. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Having an understanding of environmental science aid in handling will help us have a better understanding of how we can predict and prepare for these natural disasters and if there's any way we can decrease the number of disasters. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? I feel like we should be more aware of the things that we do so it doesn't affect the Earth system and that we can come together, and spread awareness, and that we can take care of the Earth.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? - If something goes wrong with one earth system is causes a big change reaction for the rest of them. The earth systems affect each other because they are all connected to each other. For example, the atmosphere brings precipitation (hydrosphere) to water the plants. The biosphere contains all the planet's living things. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? - Understanding environmental science aid in handling natural disasters could benefit us in the long run. We can't fix what we don't know. And yes there are things that cannot be prevented, there are things that we could do if we knew how to solve them. We could understand why they happen, how they happen, what we could do to prevent it, how to take safety measures and etc. Instead of making guesses, we would have the answers that everyone else may be looking for. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? - The efforts we could make to create a sustainable future are trying to be more aware of what we're doing. I say this because the change would have to start with us. We can't tell someone to do something that we're not doing. It doesn't work that way. I think we should start by making campaigns, maybe protest, and etc. to help draw awareness to what's going on in our communities and show that we care to make a change.

ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS 1. How do the earth systems affect each other? - The earth systems affect each other because they are all connected, if something happened with one system the other systems would also go through something in one way or another. They work together to make the Earth function. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? -Understanding environmental science can help aid in handling natural disasters by understanding how it was cause with the types of systems and being able to predict and prepare for any disaster. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? - Some efforts that we can make to create a sustainable future is to be mindful of the things that we do so that it doesn't affect any of the Earths systems and that we take care of the Earth. REFLECTION This was actually a really nice project, I had really nice and reliable people in my group that it made it easy to get this properly done. I actually understand even more about how the Earth works and found this project helpful.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? The earth systems affect each other because problems even just one earth system have affected all of them. They are all interconnected. For example, if the air quality in the atmosphere is bad that affects things in the biosphere's ability to sustain life, it affects the hydrosphere because the rain comes from the atmosphere, it affects the geosphere because it needs the atmosphere which includes the sun in order to survive. Also, the energy transfers through all the systems help every system. Humans in the biosphere need gravitational energy to not float away and we use electric, solar, wind, thermal, and heat energy in our everyday lives. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Understanding environmental science aids in the handling of natural disasters because we can’t fix an issue if we don’t understand it. Learning about how they form and what season tornadoes for instance most likely form helps us be prepared and maybe evacuate if we have to. Having an understanding keeps us safe and maybe even develops technology or ways where we can protect ourselves as best as possible. If we didn’t know these natural disasters were occurring there would be many more casualties/injuries from these disasters. Since we have developed our understanding of environmental science over time it has increased our safety. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? I think the first step in creating a sustainable future is educating yourself about the Earth. I think the next step is evaluating what we do daily that negatively affects the Earth-like air pollution, overconsumption, littering, leaving the lights on when you don’t need them, and keeping the water running for a long period of time. I think after this we should try and cut some of our bad habits that negatively affect the Earth. I think the most important step is educating others about the environment. I think this is most important because to save this Earth we need everyone to be involved.

1. How do the earth systems affect each other? I’d say it’s kind of like a domino effect. If something happens to this system, in the long run, it ends up making this system do something different. This makes the most sense to me since pretty much everything on this planet is connected and caused by something else. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? I feel like we’d understand more of why things happen and how it’s happening. When we see extreme weather and other crazy things, it would be more of an “Oh! This happens because of this”. It wouldn’t be as shocking as it usually is. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? I believe we should try to be more conscious of how our actions affect everything around us. If all of us realize how much of a domino effect we have on literally everything it would make a big difference. I say this because, at the end of the day, a lot of people just might not know about certain things that do big harm to the universe.
