Lead Poisoning

Posted by Christopher Holland in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · 3a on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10:09 pm

In this video, there are visuals of positive views of life, the parts that we enjoy most. It shows the innocents of life and how blind we are to the different ailments and issues we have in our world due to the lack of experiences with topics of this nature. After going through the clips, the video takes a darker turn. First, simply displaying a faucet which is one of the main/ more popularised ways that lead can get into a person's system. The video flashes images that show the result of lead poisoning and the different effects it can have on a person. To improve this project I would have spent more time putting in some effects and making the video more pleasing to the eye. I would also find a way to edit in more information about the effects of lead poisoning and how to go about avoiding it. The most meaningful part of my PSA was being able to show the different sides of life.

Excessive Heat in Homes During Summer PSA by Sebastian Perez

Posted by Sebastian Perez in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · 3a on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 9:43 pm

This video is about the excessive heat in homes during summer here in Philadelphia, PA. My goal was to inform my audience about these issues and how different people are affected in different areas in Philadelphia. I mentioned that North Philadelphia has the highest temperature than others. In order, it’s North Philly, West Philly, South Philly, Center City, and the edges of Philadelphia county. I mentioned that the city of Philadelphia has a website dedicated to excessive heat and what you can do to cool off or call the hotline if ever in danger. I was not as creative as I wanted to be for this video, and I did not know how to respond to this prompt in video format. I’ve seen this transition on TikTok a lot recently, and I thought that was the most “creative” I got with the video. I believe that I got my statement out there and got to the point with a limited amount of time. I don’t know how I would change my video. Maybe pick a different topic choice. I believe the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA was educating people about hot weather and to stay cool during the summers or anywhere it might be too hot for the body temperature.

REFLECTION In this video I will be talking about the issue of over excessive heat in homes. I choose this topic because I know people who really go though this issue and because it summer soon it fits perfectly. In this video I feel I did really well with explaining this issue and how it’s meaningful or mandatory to pay attention to I could have done better explaining all my research but overall I did Pretty good. The most meaningful part of this assignment was getting to know all the problems until he world and the fact that I got to speak on something important .

Air Pollution Awareness PSA

Posted by Carlos Felix-Crespo in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · 3a on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:22 pm

This video revolves around the environmental issue of air pollution. Throughout the video, you will gain an understanding of what air pollution is and how that looks like on a global scale. As well as on a city scale, where I focus specifically on the effects of air pollution in Philadelphia and how it connects to environmental justice concerns. Additionally, you will receive statistics regarding how certain demographics are targeted the most by air pollution. In terms of what I did well, I believe I was able to successfully create an entertaining video that provided accurate information and created awareness through an emotional tone. If I could re-do this video I would like to include personal videos taken by me around the city and in areas where air pollution is affecting people the most. The most meaningful part of this project was being able to creatively generate awareness towards a problem that I believe needs immediate attention.

Food Injustice PSA by Abriana Thomas

Posted by Abriana Thomas in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · 3a on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:07 am

I decided to focus my PSA on food insecurity. I chose food insecurity because ever since I learned about it in class, I've been very interested in it. I didn't even know that food insecurity was a thing prior to learning about it which is another reason why I wanted to create a PSA about it. I did very well with creating a plan for my PSA and sticking to it. However, I could have talked more about the impact of politics on food insecurity and the environmental impacts that it has. The most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA was just knowing that I was supporting a very important cause. Also, it felt good to know that I would be educating others and inspiring them to get involved.
