Something that stood out to me from the reading as well as working on a project about lead poisoning in Philadelphia was the fact that this is an issue in Philadelphia. Before reading the article I had no clue that Philadelphia had an issue with lead poisoning. Something else that stood out to me was how only the children were being affected by the lead poisoning, I then learned that this was the case because children's immune systems aren't as developed as adults , also that children were in taking chips of paint leading to the lead poisoning. I was wondering if any adults were really affected and is there anything to help remove the poisoning from the human body after partial damage is already done to the systems.
https://create.piktochart.com/output/25968913-toxic-in-philadelphia The major problem is the lead poisoning issue The pollutant comes from houses that were built before the 1978 lead paint ban, Because the houses back then were painted with lead those same houses now find families trapped in toxic houses.People buy these old houses because they are more affordable not knowing that the paint is made from lead I feel like this whole article was really informative as a Philadelphian im pretty sure the poverty rate and lead poisoning rate whent down but the whole poverty thing is still an issue today .The last issue i want to talk about is the whole problem that the lead in the paint cause some children to get brain damage as well . Other than the obvious it lowered some childrens IQ Sources https://philly.curbed.com/2017/9/14/16307258/philadelphia-poverty-rate-versus-major-cities
I think our environment is not environmentally just because we still have these old buildings that have lead and the old park buildings too and how it is harmful to kids. This itself destroying our community and little to no one trying to prevent the cause of lead poisoning.
The Earth is made up of four spheres. They are Atmosphere, Biosphere, Geosphere, and Hydrosphere. The Atmosphere is (air) Biosphere is responsible for maintaining life. Geosphere (Land and Rockets). Hydrosphere (water). We connected all these four elements to our natural disaster.
While doing the search on the water flood in Sierra Leone, I learned that sierra Leone is one of the wettest cities in west Africa. They once received 20 inches of rainfall in August. In our search we learned that heavy rains over saturated the ground which caused it to be waterlogged and lose friction.
