I created a safe space for middle school girls at SLA Beeber, serving as a role model and offering a sisterly bond. Inspired by my own efforts to strengthen my relationship with my sister, I aimed to provide support and a place for these girls to express themselves. My classmates and I developed a mini-course focused on team-building, icebreakers, and interactive activities.

Throughout the project, I connected with the girls on a deeper level, going beyond the typical student dynamic. I strived to be a big sister, addressing their concerns and fostering personal growth. The course spanned several months, including a get-to-know-you party, self-care sessions, and outdoor classes.

Despite facing delays and challenges in maintaining their interest, I remained determined to make a positive impact. We sought new activities and utilized online resources to keep them engaged. Collaboration with my classmates and effective communication were crucial for success.

This experience taught me the importance of community and selflessness. Interacting with these girls allowed me to appreciate the simplicity and step away from my own worries. The project aimed to empower the girls, boosting their self-esteem, academic performance, and social skills. Witnessing their progress made me proud, and I hoped that one of them would continue the tradition, inspiring and supporting younger girls in the future.

Overall, the project successfully provided a supportive space for middle school girls, fostering mentorship and personal development. It showcased the positive impact of older students on younger ones, fostering unity in our school community.

I embarked on an ambitious journey to create a mental health website and forum, aiming to provide a supportive and inclusive online space for individuals struggling with mental health issues. The initial phase involved extensive research to gain a deeper understanding of mental health, and the website was designed to be visually appealing and easy to navigate. To ensure the safety and well-being of forum users, I implemented strict guidelines and moderation practices. I am proud to have created a platform that provides individuals with a safe and understanding space to share their stories, seek assistance, and find solace in a community that truly cares.

In summary, the purpose of my Capstone Project was to research the impact of extra-curricular activities in schools, and to look at the experiences that Philadelphia students have with extracurricular activities . My process included researching the benefits of extracurricular activities on students, doing surveys, and doing interviews. This allowed me to collect a lot of information from students, parents, school staff, and school leaders about the impact of having extracurricular clubs in schools. The goal was also to gather information about the benefits of extracurricular activities, and to get information about the extracurricular activities that schools already have, and the kind of activities that people would like to see more of. Another goal was to share this information with school leaders so that they can make sure that they offer students as many extracurricular clubs as possible. My capstone project shows that extra-curricular activities help with student attendance, student behavior and student motivation to learn. In conclusion, my capstone project also shows that most schools in Philadelphia could use more extra-curricular activities, and more variety, not just sports. This can make the school community better for everyone, especially all students.

For my senior project, I developed a comprehensive fitness and nutrition website focused on promoting the benefits of exercise, warm-up routines, and the inclusion of fruit juices in a healthy diet. This project aimed to guide beginners and individuals seeking overall health improvement. The process involved multiple steps, including conducting research, creating content, and engaging in demonstrations. Also, this enabled me to provide evidence-based content that visitors could trust. In terms of content creation, I developed informative articles that highlighted the advantages of working out, the importance of warming up, and the benefits of incorporating fruit juices into one’s diet. Additionally, I provided specific warm-up routines and beginner-friendly workout recommendations to cater to the needs of my target audience. To enhance user experience, I designed an intuitive and nice website layout, incorporating elements such as images and videos. Throughout this project, I acquired valuable skills and knowledge. I deepened my understanding of fitness and nutrition principles, bettered my research and content creation abilities, and developed a better understanding of website design and user experience. Additionally, I learned the importance of practical application in reinforcing the concepts I presented. Overall, this senior project enabled me to create an impactful fitness and nutrition resource while acquiring valuable skills for future goals.

My Capstone was a Dance Mini-course that was to help make children feel more comfortable expressing their feelings. This mini-course included teaching, learning, and performing. My goal was to put together a showcase to show my work, but that changed once I started the mini-course. I changed my plans and decided to have the participants write a short reflection on their time with me. I taught them two short dances and taught them two different stretching techniques that they could use in the future. Learning all of that taught the girls to tap into their memory. This also helped wine them down after a long day at school. In the end, some of the girls sent their reflection and it was amazing for me to see what I have done for them.

For my Senior Capstone, I had the biggest opportunity to travel out of the country and attend a Missionary Trip with my grandfather. The missionary trip was a 7-day adventure in Tortola British Islands where we were able to spread joy across the community. My task on the trip was to work with the younger kids since I’m a teenager. I was able to set up 2 classes where I was able to help and learn about the children of Tortola. My first class was an all-girls event where we were able to set together and create vision boards. This allowed us to get to know each other more and discuss our possible futures. In the second class, I was able to set up an art class during church service. I worked with younger kids, talking and painting the things we enjoyed. After my classes, we were able to provide the kids with many art supplies that they could use in the future. Experiencing this trip allowed me to realize how fortunate I am but also how much I enjoy working with kids. It was a blessing exploring different communities and getting to know different cultures.

FULL VIDEO ^^

For my Senior Capstone, I created a film about SLA. I always had an interest in film, but never truly had a chance to create a film of my choice. My goal was to create something for others not part of the SLA community to view and gain a better understanding of SLA Beeber. I began collecting small clips and videos for my film. Throughout my time filming, I also conducted research on how to use my iPhone to create a film and how to film creative shots for my movie. I conducted interviews and asked questions to get the full experience of someone part of the SLA community. I then began to edit and piece together a layout for my movie. I tried my best to use motion and music to relate to each other. I shared a portion of my video at New Family Night and everyone loved it. I am most proud of this because I worked very hard and ultimately my goal was to share with families and students interested in SLA. I hope to continue to share this video with new families in the future. I loved seeing everything come together. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
