Wesley White Capstone

Posted by Wesley White in Senior Capstone · Schaar · ILP/TFI/CAP on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 11:16 am

For this senior project, I decided to create a year-long Bible study that includes Bible devotions which viewers who are pastors, teachers, new Christians, or just ordinary people who are interested in the Bible and Christianity, can use to learn more and be encouraged. I met about 5 times with my mentor, Ms. Bentum, who helped me with ideas as to how I can set up each page to present in on the website. I also consulted my parents and youth pastor for inspiration. I learned many important topics throughout the Bible, one of which is being thankful in times of trials. The final product is the actual website, which is easy to use and can be operated by any viewer.

Jade Harris, Saphira Paul-Fils, Hadja Diallo Capstone Project

Posted by Jade Harris in Senior Capstone · Schaar · ILP/TFI/CAP on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 9:33 am

What is beauty? We based our capstone project on beauty because it is such a powerful word in today's generation. There are many definitions of beauty, but people still have the mindset that beauty is based upon physical appearance i.e. eurocentric beauty standards and not who you are as person. We wanted to give a visual representation of what beauty means. We interviewed 5 people from different countries from Science leadership Academy at Beeber to show the beauty standards around the world. We wanted to learn what the definition of beauty meant in different countries, and how people from different countries expressed beauty and what made them feel beautiful.  We came up with 5 questions about beauty to ask. These questions were, “Where are you from?, What’s your definition of beauty? What’s your countries idea of beauty? What is the difference between your country’s beauty and America’s? Which standard of beauty do you find yourself conforming to?” We then asked them to bring clothing or jewelry that defined beauty from their country. To broaden our point of view, we asked two gentlemen to give their perspective on beauty. Given the fact that beauty isn’t just within a person, it can also be a place or thing, we also explored the Art Museum of Philadelphia. Each one of the five people say the word Beauty in their language. For the final project, we created a video that we wanted to share with the world.

Queren Villegas Capstone/ Making Music

Posted by Queren Villegas in Senior Capstone · Schaar · ILP/TFI/CAP on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 8:07 pm

My passion for the art of music has always been a part of me, however, it was not until I was fourteen that I truly composed my first lyrics and kept writing up to now. This year I really wanted to challenge myself and combine skills I have and are not necessarily my forte in the area of music. Although singing and writing lyrics have always been a thing of my own, composing an instrumental is not easy for me. It took me making three soundtracks before coming to the one that felt right. However, the feeling of producing my own sound was beyond words. Having to put so much effort, along so much frustration it was a proud day.
The lyrics themselves changed too as recording took multiple days. I had my area set up in which I worked. A small microphone, my laptop open and my lyrics on paper taped to my desk. It was my safe place, in which I spent hours and hours on end. Completing the song was a tough one, but definitely worth. Every hour, every minute was me doing something I love. Seeing the proud face of those close to me when they heard it made me blush a pink stronger than that of a strawberry. Making a song all on my own has been a vision of mine since middle school and finally accepting that I am good at what I do is forever a process I will never forget and cherish

Joshua Walker The fundamentals

Posted by Joshua Walker in Senior Capstone · Schaar · ILP/TFI/CAP on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7:41 pm

In these three videos are kids training and playing basketball. All the videos the kids are stretching and getting loose for a long and hard practice. If you see closely they are in sync with there counts and motion nobody is doing anything by themselves and it shows discipline.  These are just a few of the warm up drills the kids did. They are taught to work as a team and work together to get through the workout and come closer which can help off the court because not all the kids knew each other before this mini camp sit also makes friendships. All the kids are good students in school and thats were the discipline from the coaches come from to show the kids that it does not stop in the gym you have to take that extra mile to be sucesfull on and off the court. So they makes the kids responsible off the court as well as on in my eyes its making them leaders to do the right thing and make the right decisions.
